presents with photos
Dark Spot on photos from LENS?
Hi guys. I bought a tokina 17mm a month or so back, and, I’ve just recently started to use it, at least more than I did a month ago. I noticed a dark, oblong shaped spot(s) have been present on any photos I take with the 17mm. I know it’s not my sensor for the simple reason that I don’t get this problem with any other lens. I’m thinking dust or something else got trapped in the lens, but, I’m not sure.

Hmm. Think I may have found a cause. Looking at some film prints I did with this lens, on my EOS 630, i realized this wasn’t present. Also, on my DSLR, I realized if I don’t shoot with a flash it’s not as evident, or it’s not even present. I’m starting to think it’s a shadow from the built in lens hood?
Any thoughts still appreciated!

You nailed it in your additional comments. Happens to me on the widest angles of zooms with flash too. If you can remove the lens hood for flash photos, that will help. Or try to use flash less often and learn to shoot with natural light.
